Rights acquired for `Dum Maro Dum`

Rohan Sippy bags remake rights of `70s hit song `Dum Maro Dum`.

Mumbai: After much debate, director-producer Rohan Sippy has finally accquired the rights to remake `Dum Maro Dum`, the cult song from the 1970 film `Hare Rama Hare Krishna` from Dev Anand.
The remake of the super hit number is one of the highlights of Sippy`s upcoming production `Dum Maro Dum` which releases in April next year. The octogenarian actor-turned-filmmaker had earlier objected to remixing the song and planned to take legal course to stop Sippy, but that issue seems to be settled now. "Devsaab has given his blessings to the team of Dum Maro Dum," a source said, adding that once he realised what Sippy wanted to do with the song, he was more than happy to give him the rights to remake it. The movie `Dum Maro Dum`, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and Rana Daggubatti, will now have the remixed version of the yesteryear classic. The new version of the song is supposed to be youthful and contemporary, so that today`s generation too can relate to the song. All eyes will now be on who will fill the shoes of Zeenat Aman, who looked stunning in the original version. Sources claim that some of the top most actresses like Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor are being considered. Manwhile, music director Pritam has started composing the remix version of the song. PTI
