Chennai: Actor-singer Shruti Haasan, who wrote the lyrics and sang `Beyond the Snake` in `Hisss,` is over the moon after collaborating with rock legend Dave Kushner.
The song was composed for the `American-Indo co-production` by Kushner of Velvet Revolver, the rock `n` roll super group that includes some former members of top American groups Guns N` Roses and Stone Temple pilots.
Both Kushner and Mallika Sherawat, who starred in the movie, had praised Shruti.
"I really tried to capture the vibe of the scenes I saw in the song and I think I did, but when Shruti threw down her vocal, it just took it to another level...." Kushner had said on the collaboration which probably was the first time an Indian was penning the lyrics and doing the vocals for an American rock icon.
Mallika Sherawat had described her as a major talent and said that Shruthi was "brilliant and awesome".
Basking in the success of the song, doing well on the music charts, Shruti, daughter of versatile actor Kamal Haasan, said she felt humbled by the praise.
"It was a very interesting experience working on the song, and I really appreciate and am humbled by the praise, it feels wonderful when you are recognized for your work," she told reporters.
She said she was "really glad" that she got the opportunity to work with Kushner.
"As of now this is my only collaboration with Dave Kushner".
Asked if she was disappointed that the movie did not do well at the box office and couldn`t it have been better if the song had a Hindi mix, Shruti said she loved the way it was.
"I love the way the song is, it`s an English song and my first international collaboration. I wouldn`t change a thing about it: there will be another song to try new things in the future I`m sure.."
"The success of a film helps every aspect of a film but a good song gets recognised no matter what," she said.
Shruti is currently doing three films-one Telugu, Hindi and Tamil.
"Anagananga Oka Dheerudu" (Telugu) with Siddarth in the lead, Madhur Bhandarkar "Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji" and AR Murgadoss-directed "Ezham Arivu".
She is paired opposite Emraan Hashmi in `Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji`
When asked if she felt nervous as Emraan has quite a reputation of being a `kissing hero`, Shruti said "Emraan was a very nice co-star and I enjoyed working with him."
"It feels great to be working on three films right now and all so varied in genre and language. I have completed both the Hindi and Telugu films...and Ezham Arivu still has quite a bit left. I am also very excited about my Telugu film as it is fantasy, a genre that is unique."
Besides, "Anagananga Oka Dheerudu" has English sub-titles. On the Surya-starrer `Ezham Arivu`, she said: "Surya is such a fab person to work with. He is super professional and helpful to everyone, I`ve learned quite a bit working with him!
Shruti was earlier with the alternative rock band `Extramentals` which was dibanded a year ago. She is now with her own band "and I play original material. I just play as "Shruti".
The multi-faceted Shruti, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Imran Khan in `Luck`, had composed music for the Kamal Haasan starrer-`Unnaipol Oruvan`, a remake of the Hindi film `A Wednesday.`
