Vishal to compose for Sanjay movie

New Delhi: Producer-director Sanjay Gupta has managed to get the golden duo of Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar as composer-lyricist for his upcoming Vidya Balan starrer `Milte Hain`.

The film, to go on floors early next year, will be directed by Gulzar`s daughter Meghna and it is after a long time that Vishal has agreed to compose for a movie, which is not being directed by him.

And it was Gulzar, who brought Vishal and Gupta together for the film.

"Yes, Vishal is already on board for `Milte Hain`. I have been a huge fan of Vishal`s music right from the time he started composing. Everyone acknowledges and appreciates his score in `Maachis` but I have followed everything that he has composed, including the much under rated `Betaabi`. I think it had some fantastic songs," Gupta told reporters.

"But ever since he turned a full time director with `Maqbool`, he put brakes on composing music for films made by others, which only made me pine to work with him for a film of mine."

With an exception of a `U Me Aur Hum` or a `No Smoking`, Vishal hasn`t composed a full blown album for an outside director for long.

His love for Gulzar`s lyrics has been known for quite a while now though.

"I have always carried a dream to have Gulzar saab write for me. In fact he had graced `Dus Kahaniyaan` by penning a poem each for all the ten songs in the film. When `Milte Hain` happened, I couldn`t resist the temptation of having the perfect combination of Gulzar, Vishal and Meghna in a single setting."

Gupta has directed films like `Acid Factory`, `Dus Kahaniyaan`, `Zinda`, `Musafir` and `Kaante` but decided to let Meghna handle the directorial duties this time.

"I had stopped making films with other directors. However, in case of `Milte Hain` I made an exception since Meghna has already done so much ground work and the written material is just perfect. I couldn`t have let go of this film by any means."

The producer is currently hunting for a male lead opposite Vidya Balan.
