New Delhi: A group of visually challenged people is competing to qualify to shoot a new music video for popular singer Kailash Kher.
One of the many entries for his competition, Kathagaan, is from a group called Blind With Camera. The group trains visually challenged people to shoot pictures.
Kher`s company, Kailasa Records, recently launched the contest, wherein the participants are required to shoot their versions of one of his three songs ‘Babbaji’, ‘Ujaale Bannt Lo’ and ‘Kathagaan’ from his latest album ‘Kailasa Rangeele’. The best entries will become the official music videos of the respective songs.
Partho Bhowmik, the group`s initiator, hopes they win the golden chance.
"Let the visual interpretation of `Rangeele` be from people who understand colour differently," Bhowmik said in a statement.
"Blind With Camera demystify the polarity between blindness and photography to show that diminished senses does not mean diminished life," he added.
Kher, who has sung hit numbers like ‘Saiyaan’, ‘Teri deewana’ and ‘Allah ke banday’, is impressed with their participation, and feels the competition is giving new hopes to people.
"This is a music video that is fuelling new hopes, new horizons and new newness. There is light that we can see, but music transcends that light too. The Kathagaan competition is on," he said.
Besides the blind students, some students from the Guru Nanak Khalsa College are also making a video.
These students will use the footage of making shots of the video made by Blind With Camera members. Kher is extending support to the group`s video himself, and will be part of it.
The contest is still open.
