London: British soul star Adele has turned down the chance to move to California because she would miss the rough area of London where she grew up.
The 23-year-old singer, who recently called off her US tour due to illness, loved making her album `21` in California but said that she couldn`t leave London permanently, reported Sun online.
"I am a London girl through and through. I felt very uncomfortable in Malibu. I felt at home with my producer Rick Rubin and the studio was incredible, but it`s not my kind of area," said the `Someone Like You` hitmaker.
"Everyone lives behind a gate as they have so much money they don`t leave. It was a very surreal experience. I`m from a pretty rough area in London, so working in Malibu was a dream - but then I got brought back down to earth," she added.
Adele also said that the reliance on cars in Los Angeles was another factor in her decision.
"Everyone has to drive there. I thought I would walk to a cute little waterfront cafe and hang out, but you can`t walk anywhere there," she said.
