Adele tops 2011’s pop charts

Melbourne: Adele, whose album spent 23 weeks at number 1, has topped the charts for 2011.

The 23-year-old singer’s album blitzed all-comers on the 2011 ARIA Top 100 Album Chart, which charts the year’s biggest sellers, and was certified 11-times platinum, meaning it sold 800,000 copies.

Goony US rappers LMFAO had the biggest-selling single of the year with Party Rock Anthem, the Herald Sun reported.

Gotye, a singer-songwriter who makes music in a barn near Melbourne, had the second-biggest selling single of the year with ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’.

Other Australians on the albums list included Reece Mastin at number 15 and Cold Chisel two spots lower.

Locals featuring in the top 100 singles chart included Mastin, Havana Brown and Guy Sebastian.
