Amy to pocket USD 1 million for Russian gig
London: Popstar Amy Winehouse will pocket USD 1 million for a hour-long performance at a party thrown by a Russian billionaire.
The `Rehab` hitmaker who has been out of the music scene for the past two years because of her drug and alcohol addictions, has been flown to the Russian capital by private jet to perform at a New Year`s Eve party, reported Sun online.
It is her first private gig since billionaire Roman Abramovich paid her USD 2.5 million to sing at the launch of his girlfriend`s Moscow art gallery in 2008.
The 27-year-old plans to use the show as preparation for six gigs in Brazil in January that will net her around USD 500,000.
"This is the strongest Amy has felt in a very long time. She is determined to go down in history as a world-class performer, not someone who ruined a spectacular talent through drugs. The long road back starts in Moscow. This is like a warm-up with a nice financial bonus," said a source close to the singer.
Winehouse arrived at the city`s Vnukovo Airport on Thursday. Two Mercedes vans whisked her and her entourage to a USD 2500-a-night hotel.
