Amy Winehouse banned some of her last songs from release

Washington: Amy Winehouse had banned at least 12 of her last recorded songs from release.

The hitmaker’s posthumous third album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, hits the shelves in December this year and bosses at Island Records UK have revealed they have enough material to fill a fourth record. However, Winehouse insisted certain songs should never be released, and label chief Ted Cockle has vowed to honour the star’s wishes. “(There are) a dozen unfinished or unreleased tracks (Winehouse didn’t want put out). Everyone who hears (song) Procrastinate loves it,” Contactmusic quotes Cockle as telling Music Week. “If you ever hear Procrastinate, you have my permission to come into my offices here in Kensington (London) and fire me,” said Darcus Beese, another Island Records boss. Beese also defended his decision to release her new album after her death and says that Winehouse would have wanted people to hear her songs. “’I f**king wrote the songs. People should f**king hear them’. That’s what she’d tell you if she was sat here now,” he said. “We’ve had to qualify this album in front of Amy’s family. Her mum, her dad, her brother - that’s her very vocal, protective brother – plus fiances, stepfathers and more,” he added. ANI
