Doris Day ‘the oldest artist in chart history to score UK top 10’

London: Doris Day has made a record by becoming the oldest artist in history to get a UK top 10 album of original material.

According to the Official Charts Company, the 87-year-old singer’s new album ‘My Heart’ debuted at number nine, 62 years after the 87-year-old’s debut album was released in the US, reports the BBC.

‘My Heart’ is a selection of recordings produced by her son, Terry Melcher, before his death in 2004.

In a career spanning more than 50 years, Hollywood’s “girl-next-door” Day has appeared in 39 films and recorded 28 other albums.

‘Playing In The Shadows’, the third album by British pop artist Example, entered the chart at number one.
