The event was organised by Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank with this year’s line-up including Bjork, The Cure, Pendulum, Public Enemy and PJ Harvey.

Sonisphere, staged at Knebworth House, landed the best line-up prize following appearances from Biffy Clyro, Slipknot and Metallica.

Meanwhile, Paolo Nutini bagged the headline performance of the year gong for his performance at Latitude.

The Secret Garden Party in Cambridgeshire took the best medium-sized festival prize, while Dorset’s End Of The Road was named best small festival, the BBC reported.

Derbyshire’s Y-Not Festival was a double winner, taking the prize for best “grass roots” festival and best toilets.
