Jackson family divided over tribute concert

London: Michael Jackson`s mother Katherine`s plan for a tribute concert in Wales later this year has not gone down well with brothers Jermaine and Randy, who have called it "inappropriate and ill-timed."

The show will take place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on October 8, Katherine said, adding that it will be attended by "as many members of my family that are available".

"Michael gave his entire life to the world through his love, his music and his devotion to healing the planet. I am positive that this event will be an event great enough in scale, talent and imagination to form a worthy celebration of Michael`s life," Katherine said.

However, Jermaine and Randy Jackson said they believe the timing of the concert was inappropriate because it falls two weeks into the criminal trial of Conrad Murray, the doctor charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson`s death, The Guardian reported.

In a statement, the brothers said, "We want to make clear that this does not reflect the position of the entire family. While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honours our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael`s death.

"As everyone knows, those proceedings commence September 20th, and this Michael Forever concert takes place in Cardiff, Wales, on October 8th. In light of this, we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter, Global Live."

Jermaine had tried to do a tribute concert in Europe planned months after his brother`s death but he had to scrap it after promoters ran into trouble and singers said they had scheduling conflicts.
