London: One-hit-wonder rapper Vanilla Ice has warned teen sensation Justin Bieber to be wary of fame, saying a downfall can be "quick and painful".
Vanilla, who shot to fame with his only hit `Ice Ice Baby` in the 1990s, insists he wrote the track when he was just a teenager and thus can relate to the teen icon`s success, reported Contactmusic.
"I did `Ice Ice Baby` when I was 16. So I can kind of relate a bit. I sold over a hundred million records and I had a weekend that lasted about three years, and I didn`t know who I was, what`s my purpose in life.
"My prediction about Bieber is that he`s going to go through one of those weekends that lasts a few years because he`s had such success as a child act," said Vanilla.
As for Vanilla, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, a number of bad business decisions have led to his quick downfall and lapse into drug abuse.
Despite many efforts, Vanilla was never able to recover his career and enjoy the level of fame that he once enjoyed.
Bieber has also quickly shot to limelight with his track `Baby`, a movie charting his life and a successful perfume.
