Katy Perry heats up US singles chart
New York: Katy Perry scored her second No. 1 on Billboard`s Hot 100 singles chart as ‘California Gurls’ jumped one place to the top in its fourth week.
Perry previously led the chart for seven weeks in 2008 with her breakthrough single ‘I Kissed a Girl.’ Snoop Dogg, the featured artist on the new track, collected his third chart-topper, following his own ‘Drop It Like It`s Hot’ in 2004 and Akon`s ‘I Wanna Love You,’ on which he guested, in 2006.
Perry, who performed the summer anthem at the MTV Movie Awards alongside Snoop Dogg on Sunday, will release her new album, ‘Teenage Dream,’ on August 24.
Usher`s ‘OMG,’featuring will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, slipped to No. 2 after four non-consecutive weeks at No. 1.
B.o.B`s ‘Airplanes’ and Ke$ha`s ‘Your Love Is My Drug’ held at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy moved into the top 10 for the first time as a soloist, as ‘Billionaire’ cashed in a six-point move to No. 5.
Taio Cruz`s ‘Break Your Heart’ slipped one to No. 6, as did Lady Gaga`s ‘Alejandro’ to No. 7, and B.o.B`s ‘Nothin` On You’ to No. 8.
The Black Eyed Peas posted their fifth top-10 single from chart-topping album ‘The E.N.D.’ as ‘Rock That Body’ jumped seven places to No. 9. La Roux`s ‘Bulletproof’ fell two to No. 10.
Canadian rapper Drake claimed the highest new entry as ‘Miss Me,’ featuring Lil Wayne, debuted at No. 15.
