London: Katy Perry and Lady Gaga with five nods each are leading the nominations for the MTV Europe Music Awards.
The singers will compete against each other in the best pop, female, song and video categories, with Gaga also up for best live act and Perry nominated for best world stage performance.
The ceremony will take place in Madrid on 7 November, reports the BBC.
Katy Perry and rockers Linkin Park are confirmed to perform at the ceremony.
Muse lead the British charge with three nods, including best rock, live act and world stage performance.
Eminem is up for four awards including best hip hop, male, song and video for his collaboration with Rihanna on hit single ‘Love the Way You Lie’.
R&B star Usher has also picked up three nods in the best pop, male and song categories.
