Lady Gaga performs to thousands at Europride rally

London: Pop star Lady Gaga continued her crusade for gay rights as she performed in front of thousands, at Rome`s EuroPride rally.

The 25-year-old made a speech during the rally and performed two songs on her piano, including `Born This Way` which Lady Gaga says is a self-styled `gay anthem`, reported Contactmusic.

In her speech she described homosexuals as `revolutionaries of love` and pointed out that discrimination against gay people results in thousands of young people across the world being vulnerable to "suicide, self-loathing,

Gaga praised the `great courage` of her audience, who had paraded through the streets of Rome in brightly coloured floats and costumes in order to support gay rights and highlight injustices against the gay community.

She also hoped to send a message both to the Vatican, who boldly oppose same sex marriage and adoption, and also to outspoken Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi.
