Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ tops UK chart, ends Adele`s supremacy

London: Lady Gaga has debuted at number one on the UK chart with the best first week album sales of the year (2011), replacing Adele who was on the top for 16 of the last 21 weeks.

Gaga’s album ‘Born This Way’ had sold 215,000 copies in its first week.

“I feel so honoured to have the highest first week sales in the UK this year,” the BBC quoted the pop singer as saying.

“I wrote the album``s first single Born This Way in Manchester because I was so inspired by the confidence and bravery characteristic of my fans,” she added.
