London: British rock star Pete Doherty`s old band The Libertines performed a triumphant comeback gig in London, putting old problems behind them for their first concert in six years.

The four-piece band, who recorded two albums before splitting in 2004 over Doherty`s erratic behaviour, took to the stage late Wednesday and wowed an ecstatic crowd with a string of their hits.

All eyes were on Doherty and fellow frontman Carl Barat to see if any of the old tensions would surface.

But during a set lasting one hour and 20 minutes the pair shared guitar-playing and singing duties like old friends, performing hits that included "Can`t Stand Me Now".

Doherty ended the set by throwing his harmonica into the crowd and all four members of the band embraced.

Doherty, who was once engaged to supermodel Kate Moss, has had frequent brushes with the law over his drug use. He claimed last year the band was offered millions of pounds to reform.
