Michael praises Spice Girls for inspiring women
London: Singer George Michael has praised the Spice Girls for revolutionising the music scene by encouraging more British women to enter the industry.
Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Chisholm rose to fame in the 1990s with their pop hits, and Michael insists the group has inspired young girls like British singers Adele and Jessie J, reports a website.
"I know people don`t take them seriously, but I think the Spice Girls changed the entire landscape and British music massively under-exploited female talent," he told a radio show.
"These girls now that are out there are absolutely giving the Americans a run for their money, they come from that generation that ran around the playgrounds going `girl power`, and I think that`s fantastic," he added.
