Paltrow makes singing debut

London: She has won hearts with her acting prowess in a number of films and now actress Gwyneth Paltrow has wowed the crowds with her first live singing performance.

The `Shakespeare In Love` star received a standing ovation at the 44th Annual Country Music Awards in Nashville on Wednesday for her performance of the title track from her forthcoming film `Country Strong`, reported Contactmusic.

The 38-year-old actress, married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, was dressed in an Atelier Versace gown and played the guitar alongside country singer Vince Gill. Paltrow earlier admitted she had to calm her nerves with alcohol.

"I went to a great bar and I had a pint of Guinness. That`s my new ritual. I`m feeling good!" she said.

During her live performance she smiled at the crowd and closed her eyes, before dissolving into laughter at the end.
