Stephen Sondheim to be honoured at Olivier Awards

London: Legendary US composer Stephen Sondheim is set to receive a special prize at the Laurence Olivier Awards later this month.

The musical icon will be presented with the Special Award at the annual ceremony in London on March 13 in recognition of his contribution to the West End, reports the Daily Star.

Rival musical composer Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Phantom of the Opera’ sequel ‘Love Never Dies’ is leading the Laurence
Olivier nominations, with seven nods.

Other recipients of the trophy include acting greats Sir Alec Guinness and Dame Judi Dench, as well as theatre director Sir Peter Hall.
