New Delhi: If you are a diehard lover of art, then you mustn’t miss out on ‘Geography of Solitude: In Between Spaces’, an exhibition by Siddhartha Tawadeyan.
‘Geography of Solitude: In between spaces’ is a multi media show combining photographic diptychs, found footage experimental films and appropriated image installations to illustrate the social narrative of London.
‘Geography of Solitude’ presents an alternative interpretation of urban society in London. Working within the cracks of the city constructs; spaces that foster reflection are uncovered. These spaces have no names; these places are the “In between spaces”.
Realism forms the overriding priority in the work. The images depict societal concerns that take precedence over classical aesthetics. The work acts as a precursor of thinking beyond narratives of origin and initial subjectivities, and to focus on moments that are produced in the expression of a culture through its visual imagery.
‘Geography of Solitude: In Between Spaces’ is created based on personal encounters as a resident in London where solitude frequently played a catalyst; initiating an intimate dialogue with the city that grows more and more familiar during the course of the conversation, and yet it will never be the same, never be known, perpetually surprise, confuse and provoke.
The exhibition is scheduled to take place from 8th December 2012 – 4th January 2013 at Queen’s Gallery, British Council, 17, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Connaught Place Delhi, 110001.
