Los Angeles: Singer-actor Justin Timberlake has released his new single `Suit and Tie` after an hiatus of six years.
The upbeat song, which also features rapper Jay-Z, is the 31-year-old`s first musical offering since 2006`s critically acclaimed `FutureSex/LoveSounds`. The song is the first release off Timberlake`s forthcoming album "The 20/20 Experience".
In a letter posted on his website, Timberlake, who tied the knot recently with actress Jessica Biel, said he began recording music in June.
"Back in June of last year, I quietly started working on what is now, my next journey with that thing I love called music. The inspiration for this really came out of the blue and to be honest, I didn`t expect anything out of it. I just went into the studio and started playing around with some sounds and songs.
"It was probably the best time I`ve had in my career... Just creating with no rules and/or end goal in mind and really enjoying the process," Timberlake wrote on his blog.
Timberlake has co-written and co-produced `Suit and Tie` with Timbaland, who produced much of the Grammy-winning `FutureSex/LoveSounds`.
The buzz around the singer`s return to music kicked off Friday when he posted a video on his website that showed him walking into a studio, putting on headphones and saying, "I`m ready."
