New York: Carey Mulligan locked her role as the enigmatic Daisy Buchanan in ` The Great Gatsby` with a kiss.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the movie director, Baz Luhrmann, said that the 27-year-old actress stunned Leonardo DiCaprio with an unexpected smooch while they acted out a scene, the New York Post reported.
"So she does the scene, grabs him and kisses him," Luhrmann said.
The 50-year-old filmmaker said that after the scene, Mulligan went out the door and he began thinking, `My God, that is Daisy Buchanan. I wonder what DiCaprio thinks.`
Luhrmann revealed that DiCaprio told him that the way Mulligan manifests Daisy is like something Gatsby would never have met in his lifetime, something so delicate that he would want to protect her to an obsessive and impossible level.
He added that he finalised Mulligan as his leading lady after the scene.
