Berlusconi spent 16 million pounds on 'bunga bunga' parties

London: Former Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi spent a whopping 16 million pounds on bunga bunga parties at his mansion near Milan, a media report said.

The staggering stash was revealed at the trial of the 75-year-old former Italian Prime Minister who denies paying for sex with a minor, `The Sun` reported.

Prosecutors say dozens of women got money, cars and jewels for attending the bashes and sleeping with the politician. Some dressed up as nuns and police officers and performed pole dances to entertain Berlu and his cronies.

His accountant Guiseppe Spinelli told how he drew sums totalling 16 million pounds out of the bank in 2009 and 2010. He took wads to the millionaire`s mansion near Milan, where parties were held in the basement.

Spinelli said: "He would tell me what amounts to put in the envelopes."

Berlusconi, who stepped down last year, is facing trial for allegedly paying for sex with Karima El Mahroug, known as Ruby the Heartbreaker, when she was 17 -- legally a minor.
