London: Cheryl Cole has topped a list of celebrities women would most like a lesbian encounter with, a new study has revealed.
Fellow brunettes Angelina Jolie and the Duchess of Cambridge were also rated highly during the study, which explored female sexuality.
More than half of heterosexual girls questioned (51 percent) admitted to passionately kissing another woman on the lips, with 37 percent admitting to being drunk at the time.
London-based women admitted to having the most girl-on-girl experiences (63 percent), while those in Birmingham (27 percent) were less experimental.
The main reason behind same-sex dalliances was drunkenness (37 percent) while a quarter said that they were driven by curiosity.
Elizabeth Morgan, a professor of psychology at Boise State University who is not associated with the recent findings, believed that straight women often feel more than a friendly affection for other women.
The female stars straight women would most like to kiss:
One of her studies revealed that 60 percent of the 484 straight women questioned, had been attracted to another female at some point in their lives – with a further 45 percent admitting to kissing a woman and 50 percent confessing to enjoying fantasies about other ladies.
“Women are encouraged to be emotionally close to each other. That provides an opportunity for intimacy and romantic feelings to develop,” the Daily Mail quoted Prof Morgan as saying at that time.
In the recent poll women between the ages of 32-52 were found to have had the most lesbian encounters (52 percent), followed by women between the ages of 18-30 (47 percent).
More than 2,000 straight women were involved in the survey commissioned by Universal Playback.
