New York: Elizabeth Olsen has revealed that she is not a fan of filming nude scenes.

According to MTV News, the ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ actress appears in the buff in scenes shot in various locations throughout her latest film, and it wasn’t always easy.

“[Shooting at] the lake was daunting,” the New York daily News quoted the actress as telling New York magazine.

“Some lake scenes we could only shoot once, because it was physically too cold for a body to be in there very long.”

The 22-year-old actress was professional about it, as she grew up watching and learning some early lessons from sisters Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

“Everyone’s always put in some sort of weird situation when you’re making a movie,” she said.

“I didn’t treat [nude scenes] any differently. The only thing we treated differently was that our first [assistant director] would swap out with our second AD, who was a female, and she’d call the shots.”

Another thing about the nude scenes that made Olsen uncomfortable was how much paperwork went into shooting them.

“With something like nudity, you have to fill out a lot of paperwork in order to do those things,”

“There are all these things you have to fill out, like it says there’s this many seconds on this part of the body, and you can show this part but not that part and for this long.”

At the end of the day though, the film benefited from the nude scenes, no matter how uncomfortable they were.

“I feel like actors are tools to help the story, and if [nudity is] part of the story in an effective way, then it just is.”

“If it’s sensationalized and gratuitous, I don’t want to do it.”

“In this film, it has a very clear purpose of someone losing their full sense of self-identity and ownership of herself and her body and her mind,” she added.
