London: Kris Jenner is said to have seen to it that her daughter Kim Kardashian, who catapulted to stardom following the release of her sex tape with rapper Ray J in 2007, would cash in on the incident, it has been revealed.
According to a source, the ‘momager’ helped to set up the sale of the video which led to 31-year-old Kim’s fame.
“Kris was totally involved in arranging the sale of Kim’s tape,” the Daily Mail quoted the insider as telling Star Magazine via Radar Online.
“The video already existed, and Kris was there every step of the way as a middleman brought in to market it to an adult entertainment company,” the insider said.
The source also alleged that the 56-year-old was delighted when she found out the sex tape, released by adult company Vivid Entertainment, was titled Kim Kardashian, Superstar.
“That must have thrilled Kris since you could hardly call Kim a household name at that point in time,” the source said.
The source also added that Jenner allegedly received a hefty pay out for the sale of the X-rated video.
“I saw Kris Jenner’s signature on the contract; I believe she got somewhere between 250,000 dollars and 500,000 dollars for the original deal with the middleman,” the source said.
Kim had filmed the sex tape when she was 23, and ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ premiered eight months after its release.
The source alleged to the publication that it was all part of the plan for Kris.
“Everything she does in this world, every decision she makes on her daughters` behalf, is based on greed and publicity. And has nothing to do with her family``s stability or happiness,” the source said.
According to Star Magazine, the source passed a polygraph test while making the allegations.
