New York: Former International Monetary Fund (IMF) head Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who recently walked free from US courts after judges dropped charges against him of raping a hotel maid, is now likely to face allegations that he attempted to rape a French writer in 2003.

Journalist and novelist Tristane Banon has filed an official complaint with police, who are now deciding whether charges should be brought in the French courts, the Daily Mail reports. Her lawyer David Koubbi said that Banon has ‘no intention’ of dropping the allegations despite the collapse of the New York case. “The DSK affair in France has only just begun,” the paper quoted Koubbi, as saying. Banon, the ‘goddaughter’ of Strauss-Kahn’s second wife, said the French politician acted ‘like a rutting chimpanzee’ as he tried to pull her clothes off when she met him for an interview. Koubbi said that he was disappointed that the hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo’s case did not go ahead. “I regret the outcome. I regret it for Nafissatou Diallo because I believed what she said was true,” he said. Koubbie said 32-year-old Banon was in ‘fighting mood’ and had ‘no intention of letting her case drop.’ ANI
