Thiruvananthapuram: Ace comedian Jagathy Sreekumar Thursday filed a petition seeking Rs.10.50 crore compensation in the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal court here.
The comedian was seriously injured in a road accident March 10 last year near Kozhikode in Kerala while travelling to a shooting location on the Kerala-Karnataka border.
For almost a year, he was under treatment at the Christian Medical College Hospital at Vellore in Tamil Nadu. He only returned home to Kerala last month.
The comedian has still to recover his speech.
In a petition that he filed with the accident claims tribunal, he has arraigned the car driver, its owner and the insurance company as opposite parties.
In a career that began in the early 1970s, Jagathy donned make-up in more than 1,100 films, becoming an integral part of the Malayalam film industry.
In 2011 alone, of the 70 Malayalam films that found its way to theatres, Jagathy acted in 24.
