Kolkata: Actor Abir Chatterjee is still enamoured about his visit to the historic Cellular Jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands,, where a Bengali film was shot for the first time in recent years.
Abir, who was the lead in Hrid Majharey, a new Bengali flick inspired by Shakespearean Othello, told PTI,"Our heads bowed at the martyrs`` gallery in the jail, in pride and in awe."
"One thought which instantly comes to your mind is how blessed and fortunate we all are as our safe and secure lives were made possible by their deaths at the altar.""There were seven galleries of Bengali freedom fighters who were sent to the gallows in Andamand and Islands. This shows the contribution of Benga;is in the freedom stir," Abir said.
"This was the first Bengali film to be shot in the island in two decades. We also shot in the Tsunami-hit islands," Abir said.
With the close proximity of that place with Kolkata, more bengali films should be hot in the blue archipelago, he said.
About the hand-drawn posters of the film, the new Feluda in Badshahi Angti said, "This brings back the era of Satyajit Ray` whose hand designer film posters were an artiste`s delight.
"I love his Goopey Gyne Bagha Byne posters the most for the sheer artistry," the Baishe Srabon actor, who had been paired opposite Raima in the acclaimed Srijit Mukherjee film, said.Hird majhare, which also stars Raima Sen as a cardiology student, will be released about an year after making.
