Popular Mollywood comedian gets to play villain in movie

After acting in over 350 films, popular Malayalam film comedian Indrans showcased his villainous side in recently released `Pottas Bomb`, directed by Suresh Achoos.

Chennai: After acting in over 350 films, popular Malayalam film comedian Indrans showcased his villainous side in recently released `Pottas Bomb`, directed by Suresh Achoos.
The story follows four youngsters escaping from a juvenile home with the dream of making money and having a good time but get involved in a murder. "I am their protector in a colony. It is a different character altogether from the ones I have been playing so far," Indrans said. Indrans made his way in the industry as a costume designer. His first break came was `Choothatam` in 1985. Initially he did both costume designing and acting in minor roles. "I was already in the industry as a costume designer and opportunities to act in films came naturally. I must have designed costumes for over 100 films," he said. The Malayalam movie `CID Unnikrishnan BA BEd`, starring Jayaram released in 1994, was a turning point in his career. The film was sort of paying a tribute to Malayalam movie`s evergreen hero, the late Prem Nazir, who played several CID roles. Jayaram as Unnikrishnan, dreams of becoming a CID like his hero Nazir and Indrans is his best friend in the film. Indrans` lean figure and peculiar way of delivering his dialogue and mannerisms appealed to filmgoers and soon he was a permanent feature in almost every movie. He also feels his role in the Mohanlal starrer `Spadikam`, which was a big hit, also got him good reviews He also did the costume designing in the movie, which earned him accolades.
