Southern film actors donate for cyclone-hit victims

 Popular Tamil actors such as Suriya, Vishal Krishna Reddy and Kajal Agarwal as well as Telugu stars Chiranjeevi, Rana Daggubati and Nandamuri Balakrishna Wednesday announced donations to the Chief Minister's relief fund for the victims of cyclone Hudhud, which struck Andhra Pradesh coast Sunday.

Chennai: Popular Tamil actors such as Suriya, Vishal Krishna Reddy and Kajal Agarwal as well as Telugu stars Chiranjeevi, Rana Daggubati and Nandamuri Balakrishna Wednesday announced donations to the Chief Minister's relief fund for the victims of cyclone Hudhud, which struck Andhra Pradesh coast Sunday.

Actor Suriya donated Rs.50 lakh on behalf of his entire family. While the 'Singham star has himself donated Rs 25 lakh, his brother Karthi and cousin K.E. Gnanavel Raja donated the rest of the remaining Rs 25 lakh together.

Actor Vishal Krishna Reddy, who is currently busy with the promotions of his forthcoming Tamil release 'Poojai', contributed Rs 15 lakh for relief work and actress Kajal Aggarwal announced a donation of Rs 500,000.

Actor-politician Chiranjeevi announced Rs 50 lakh and his counterpart Nandamuri Balakrishna said he will donate Rs 30 lakh.

Balakrishna will also give away 20 tonnes of rice and medicines.

Actor Rana Daggubati, who belongs to one of the popular production families in Telugu cinema, said they will chip in Rs 50 lakh as their donation.

Akkineni Nagarjuna announced Rs 20 lakh as his contribution, while Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Sunil Varma have donated Rs 10 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively.
