Chennai: After an 11-year hiatus from Tamil cinema, the compositions of Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy will be heard in Kamal Haasan`s magnum opus ‘Vishwaroopam’.
The trio says their prolonged absence from the Tamil film industry was due to their commitments in Bollywood.
"It`s just one of those things. I guess we`ve been very busy with our Hindi projects. Hence we haven`t had any offers from the Tamil film industry," Ehsaan Noorani told IANS.
Their last Tamil film was Kamal Haasan`s "Alavandhan" (2001), which was also released in Telugu and Hindi as ‘Abhay’.
On the music of ‘Vishwaroopam’, a Tamil-Hindi bilingual, Ehsaan said the compositions had turned out well.
"The music was expected to be taken to global territories drawing upon different ethnic styles of music, and we did it within set expectations," he said.
Shankar Mahadevan has also sung a song for the film along with other voices, including Kamal`s.
"The album is mixed and mastered well and should be released soon. We are as much excited as fans about the music launch," said Shankar.
He said they did not adhere to any technique to compose the music.
Composing music is itself an abstract process. So one could not chalk out a style, he said.
They were earlier approached to compose music for Kamal Haasan-starrer "Dasavatharam" but were busy with other projects.
"We will love to do more Tamil projects provided they come to us. But for now, we`re busy with `Bhaag Milkha Bhaag` and two untitled films by Nikhil Advani, besides other projects," Shankar Mahadevan said.
Asked about working with Kamal Haasan for the second time, they said it was exhilarating.
"His years of experience in the industry make him an excellent director. His guidance and knowledge of music make working with him a pleasure," said Shankar.
He says Kamal is one of the most innovative directors and, despite being a superstar, has a lot of humility.
