London: The Duchess of Cornwall has revealed that Prince Harry kept one of the younger bridesmaids smiling while photographs were being taken during the Royal wedding after he gave her a 1-pound wiggly worm.
Harry, 26, who loves to play the joker, had produced the toy from his pocket during the carriage ride from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace after the service.
Eliza Lopes, three, the Duchess’s granddaughter, had begun to look scared and overwhelmed by the crowds but was soon beaming again thanks to Prince Harry’s forethought.
She loved the toy so much that she refused to give it back and was even clutching it when photographer Hugo Burnand took the official wedding portraits.
“Did you see the wiggly worm? That was the funniest thing. I can’t believe no one has spotted it,” the Telegraph quoted the Duchess as saying.
“I was so worried about Eliza. She is such a lovely little thing and looked so gorgeous in her dress but it was a very big occasion for a child of her age.
“Harry pulled this wiggly worm out of his pocket in the carriage to keep them amused.
“Eliza loved it so much that she wouldn’t let go and it even made the official photographs. Can you believe it? She was holding onto my finger but in her other hand was this worm.
“I was so proud of her, she looked adorable in her dress and couldn’t stop twirling around in it. It was such a lovely, lovely day,” she added.
