Clooney would have made an ideal son in law, says Canalis’ father

London: Italian actress Elisabetta Canalis’ father has said that George Clooney would have made an “ideal son in law” had he married his daughter.

Clooney, 50, and Canalis, 32, broke up last week after two years of being together after the actor insisted that he was not interested in tying the knot despite her attempts.

“Certainly he would have made a good son in law but it’s my daughter who has to decide,” a newspaper quoted Canalis’ doctor father Cesare as telling a magazine.

“He is a nice guy, good fun. It was nice to meet him last year - it was his first visit to Sardinia, we had a good time but there was a lot of attention and we are not used to it,” Cesare said.

Her mother Bruna revealed that Canalis is feeling very down and sad about the split.

“Elisabetta is very down in the dumps. I’ve spoken to her and she is very sad but these things happen,” she revealed.
