Washington: Australian actress Naomi Watts opened up about her beautiful relationship with the late Heath Ledger during a candid interview with More Magazine.
Watts, 42, discussed how the actor, who passed away in 2008, had a special soul.
"We had a beautiful relationship, only a couple of years, but he was a man who was completely full of joy, and there was a lot of laughing and affection. He was really a very special soul,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.
The actress now has two sons with partner Liv Schreiber, but she still cherishes the time spent with Ledger, who died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in January 2008.
She also sympathises with Heath’s 5-year-old daughter Matilda, whom he had with Michelle Williams.
"Not knowing my father always made me feel like a piece of myself was missing or unknown. Not reachable. Growing up, there was this wondering what he would think of me or what I would think of him,” Contactmusic quoted Matilda as saying.
Ledger died shortly after wrapping up filming Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’, in which he played the Joker.
He posthumously scooped the Academy Award for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for the movie.
Watts will soon begin work on Jeff Feuerzeig’s drama ‘The Bleeder’, about the life of heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner.
