Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe unite for son

Los Angeles: Oscar winning actress Reese Witherspoon and her former husband Ryan Phillippe were spotted together, cheering their son on during his football game.

The couple, who split in 2007 after eight years of marriage, came together to cheer their son Deacon, 8, during his football game in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, reported Us magazine online.

Despite their split, the couple maintain a friendly relationship for the sake of their two children and had earlier co-hosted Deacon`s birthday party.

The `Cruel Intentions` star has said in earlier interviews that he wants his ex-wife to be happy in her second marriage to Hollywood agent Jim Toth.

"I`m very happy for both Reese and Jim. I wish nothing but the best for the mother of my children," Phillippe, 36, had said.

The `Water for Elephants` star married Toth in a star-studded ceremony on 26 March, in California.
