Melbourne: Shane Warne has seemingly confirmed his engagement to model Elizabeth Hurley on Twitter by thanking his fans for their well wishes.
The former cricketer has sent a tweet to fans in response to the report that he popped the question over a romantic dinner in Scotland. “Thanks for all your congratulations. Here’s a pic of us about to go to Dunhill dinner in St. Andrews,” News.com.au quoted him as tweeting late Saturday night. The Daily Mail reported earlier that Warnie proposed to the model-turned-actress over a romantic dinner at the exclusive Old Course Hotel in St Andrews, Scotland, where the cricketing great is currently playing in a pro-am golfing competition. Hurley, 45, is said to have immediately accepted. However, the Sunday Herald Sun in Melbourne has reported the engagement took place weeks ago. According to The Mail, Warne made the proposal in front of “stunned VIP guests” in the luxury hotel’s dining room. “Shane proposed over dinner and it was fairly public, not a private affair,” a source said. “He didn’t get down on one knee, but when it was announced the other guests in the restaurant stood up and applauded.” The high-profile couple have been dating for 10 months and there had been persistent speculation that marriage was on the cards. Hurley officially divorced textiles heir Arun Nayer in June, while Warne separated from former wife Simone Callahan last year. ANI
