Los Angeles: Actor Antonio Banderas says he still has affection for his estranged wife Melanie Griffith even as they ended their 18-year-old marriage last year.
Banderas, 54, and Griffith, 57, announced their separation in June, 2014. The duo filed for divorce citing 'irreconcilable differences'.
Breaking his silence on their split, Banderas, who stars Griffith alongside in 'Automata', he said, "It's been an intense year... Life goes on."
"I admire and respect Melanie first and foremost as a great actress. I have always said that. That's why she is in the movie. And she's also the person that I loved, that I love, and will always love," he said on Spanish TV show 'El Hormiguero'.
The show's host then said, "You are lucky to have fallen in love again. So all the best, I hope you are happy and Melanie, too." Banderas replied, "Thank you very much."
