New York: Katie Holmes, who recently filed for divorce from husband of five years Tom Cruise, has chosen chic Chelsea in Manhattan as the place where she will be spreading her wings again as a young and single woman.
Fabric merchant and iPad-only magazine publisher Christopher Hyland, who is the 33-year-old actresses new neighbour, has opened the doors to show the luxuries the apartment is equipped with, the New York Daily News reported. According to Hyland, Holmes “handled herself like a princess.” Hyland, who also stays on the top floor of Holmes’ new building and his apartment, which is up for sale for 23 million dollars, gave a sneak-peak inside his house to give a fair idea of the type of luxuries Holmes would be living in post slip with the Hollywood hunk. The 12-room 4,000 square-foot four-bedroom masterpiece is filled with modern photography by Robert Mapplethorpe, paintings by Hudson River School masters, and busts from ancient Greece and Rome. The fabric in the dining room is a reproduction of the kind made especially for the sister of Marie Antoinette. There are other design triumphs. The kitchen is inspired by an English country house. The entry foyer is covered in marble. The coved ceilings and mouldings come right out of a Beaux Arts home. ANI
