The Heavenly Spa at Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket is all about sheer indulgence.

A ten-hour work day and a nine-hour long flight later, as I land in Phuket, Westin Siray Bay Resort’s Heavenly Spa seemed like the perfect place to bliss out. Lost in time zone, as I sauntered into the spa, a pretty and ebullient face welcomed me into what was going to transport me to heaven for the next 80 minutes. I was signed up for Westin’s signature spa treatment, the Heavenly Spa. The luscious woody ambiance and the white upholstery with dimly lit candles set the mood. Sao, my spa attendant, greeted me and offered me an energising herbal tea made from banana leaf, then handed me a cold towel. I dipped my feet in an urn filled with warm water strewn with rose petals. Sao began the foot ritual where she gently massaged my feet; I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and drank in the tranquility.

She then brought out three aromatic oils to choose from, for my treatment—Pure, Luxury and Spice. Pure had a blend of jasmine and bergamot extracts, Spice was filled with extracts from ginger and Luxury had rose extracts. The luxury oil seemed the ideal way to brush away my travel exhaustion. After filling out an in-depth personal questionnaire, Sao led me into the treatment room. Tastefully done up in rustic colours, the rooms are little havens of relaxation and solitude. As I changed into my spa robe, I was assured of a pampering experience from head to foot. I surrendered to the healing touch of Sao.

Her gentle yet tough hands began working on my lower back, with massage strokes that released every stress and knot. She infused the right amount of pressure releasing neck and shoulder tensions, ensuring a peaceful and balanced sense of being. The delightful fragrance of the oils, scented candles, a dimly-lit room, soothing music, and a comforting silence only broken occasionally by the sound of my contented snores— I don’t recall when sleep invaded me. The experience was a harmonious balance between scent and touch. At the end of 80 minutes, I was revived, relaxed and rejuvenated.
