Arnie, Maria Shriver reunite as youngest son hospitalised after surfing accident

New York: Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his estranged wife Maria Shriver reunited in the hospital after their youngest son Christopher suffered from a collapsed lung and multiple broken bones during a Malibu beach outing last weekend.

"They’ve been in the hospital together, and they’re talking constantly. Their son is their priority right now," the New York Daily News quoted a source as saying.

"While it has been a very scary week, Christopher is surrounded by his family and friends," the separated couple said in a joint statement.

"He is a brave boy and is expected to make a full recovery. On behalf of our entire family, we want to sincerely thank the paramedics and lifeguards who responded so swiftly as well as the doctors, nurses, emergency room and hospital staff who have cared for our son. They have been extraordinary to him and to us," the statement added.

Shriver was with the teen when the accident happened and hasn’t left his side in the ICU of an undisclosed hospital, the source confirmed.
