London: British screenwriter Simon Monjack died of acute pneumonia "just like" his wife, actress Brittany Murphy, the Los Angeles coroner`s office said.
The coroner`s office has confirmed the British screenwriter who was found dead at the couple`s Hollywood home May 23 - five months after his wife passed away from the same illness, was suffering from the inflammatory condition, as well as severe anaemia.
Los Angeles` Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said: "Just like Brittany." He added that some prescription drugs were found in the 40-year-old`s body, but not at lethal levels.
At the request of Monjack`s family, another test is to be conducted before the full autopsy report is released.
Brittany`s mother Sharon Murphy has welcomed the findings.
"I am still in shock and mourning over the deaths of my daughter Brittany and son-in-law Simon. It is with great relief that Simon`s preliminary autopsy findings have been released, so the media speculation can stop. As I was sure of, just like my daughter Brittany, there was no kind of drug overdose," femalefirst.co.uk quoted Sharon as saying.
Brittany died last December of pneumonia, with anaemia as a contributing factor. She was 32.
