New York: The 9.7-million-dollars compensation may serve as some respite to Penny Johnson after her face-lift plastic surgery got botched in 2003.
Johnson, a part owner of a financial and IT consultant business had complained of constant face contraction and permanent buzzing around her eye after the surgery.
Her doctor, Le Roux Fourie, denied the surgery was experimental, but admitted liability in the case.
According to her husband, after the surgery Johnson lost her business and became a recluse who wouldn``t socialize with close friends anymore.
"Their marriage has survived, but the claimant said in evidence that she is no longer a wife to her husband," the New York Daily News quoted the judge as saying in his ruling.
The judge also noted that Johnson formerly was a happy and outstandingly successful woman.
