Delhi: The first day of Wills Lifestyle fashion week kicked off with great shows by country’s finest designers.
The runways were bedazzled by finest models who walked tall and confident for various designers, the lights went up and the ambience was aesthetically created by the music used at the shows.
Music was acknowledged as one of the significant elements in bringing out the whole appeal of the first successful day at the fashion week.
From Sufi chants to Indie rock to American, the choice of music was just right to bring out the best in all the shows that took place on Wednesday. “The designs rely heavily on subtle details which are in the fabrics used. So the Japenese music I used was meant to be very subtle to help focus the attention on the clothes” said designer Neeru Kumar while speaking to a daily.
Neeru Kumar was the one to open the fashion week with her extremely heavy western silhouette collection. After her show there was a showcase of collection by Gaurav Jai Gupta who debuted last year and already has created a lot of buzz. He went with the choice of Indie Rock music. He used music by the Indie rock band, DeVotchKa. He went as far as he could to blend his choice of music with his designs and collection.
On the other hand Kolkatta based designer Kallol Dutta used familial music for his show. He is known to vow the runaway and he did not fail to do the same yesterday. He said, “My younger brother created the original music for the show. I was also quiet excited to use electronic music and no vocals in my shows because generally I use very guttural sounds.”
Designer Urvashi Kaur, mixed sufi music and spiritual sounds along with some cults from Van Morisson for her show as her collection was a depiction of journey through life. And designer Tarun Tahiliani, whose show closed Day 1 ,went with an opulent score which went hand in hand with his exquisite creation.
