Kallol moves away from signature black at WIFW

New Delhi: For designer Kallol Datta, love for the colour black was a lifelong affair till he decided to come up with a range that includes greys, greens and mauves at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Sunday.

"This is the first time I have drifted towards non-black hues. That`s why I stuck with unusual and lighter shades of various colours," Kolkata-based Datta told reporters.

The designer showcased a line with 3-D folds dresses, tie-up dresses, multi-flap jackets and mirror-image dresses.

Taking inspiration from the "concentration camp", the line had imprints of cutlery, bar code and jail-strip dresses, saris and trousers.

Simple and free-flowing dresses were incorporated with different construction techniques.

The five-day event kick started in the capital Saturday.
