Delhi: Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013, that sparked off in the capital yesterday, saw a star-studded second day. The ramp played host to an array of designs - ranging from classic to contemporary, ethnic to modern and gave rise to an altogether different phenomenon.
The day opened to a fashion show which showcased creations by designers Surabhi Chawla, Sakshi Pradhan, Khushi Z and Taniya Khanuja. The four designers conjured up tornadoes during their respective slots. And despite the more-than-an-hour-long delay and a wardrobe malfunction on the ramp, what ensued was sheer brilliance.
Surabhi Chawla`s creation, titled `The Indian Gypsy`, displayed the convergence of the change and tradition; leading to the creation of new aesthetic dimensions. Heritage craftmanship and elegance portrayed the creative skills that the designer is endowed with. Fabrics like cotton, silk, and silk blends saw themselves being enhanced with handicrafts such as block-printing, and embroidery. Zardosi, phulkari and mirror-work made for an utter ecstasy on the part of the ones watching the show.
Sakshee Pradhan`s collection, inspired by the sparrow, saw a range of edgy silhouettes that represented the current fashion trends aptly. Flowy crepes, satin and net in powdered salmon pink, subtle undertones of champagne pink sequins and brasso print were shown off on the ramp.
Diana Penty, vivacious and exceedingly charming, sashayed down the ramp for designer Sakshee Pradhan. And whether the designer`s creation made the actress look like a dream or whether the actress made the creation appear so desirable - is a realm that better not be delved into!
Taniya Khanuja`s creations were much applauded and saw heads turn many times during the course of her slot. Khushi Z presented some very beautiful ensembles, and left people awestruck.
