All new Motorazr 2: The Razr just got better!

If we go back to history and point at one particular phone that changed the way people buy mobile phones—as a style statement as much as a utility--it would undoubtedly be Motorazr (V3). Everyone was suddenly talking about ``slim phones’’, other companies furiously tried to match up. Razr with its revolutionary design rejuvenated Motorola. Motorola phones were suddenly ``cool’’ again. I remember at that time Nokia infected Indian janta had started thinking beyond.
The big bulky phones were passé...easy-to-slip-in-jeans phones were in. Everyone seemed to be carrying the V3. Last year in July iconic Razr touched the sale mark of 50 million. Motorazr revolutionized phone market with its launch in July 2004 and then was set for an evolution and truly so it did.I bet you would have not missed the astounding commercial on the telly that shows a sexy model using her sharp phone as a weapon. Oops… did you miss it? Then you must have wondered why the big hoardings around town are shouting sharper than ever. Well, the sharper than ever is the new Motorazr 2. At some 12 mm thickness it can very well claim to be the sharpest. Let’s take a look at the new Razr and the evolution. After a series of attempts to make a worthy predecessor of Razr V3, people at Motorola now can sleep soundly. Motorazr 2 is shinier, slimmer and needless to say packs more features. It has a very shiny, glossy exterior. Sometimes smudges too but that doesn’t look very odd. Large external screen is very expressive with its size; more so it has a touch-screen too. (Wonder why? Did anyone mention iphone?) Touch-screen helps you control your MP3 without even opening the phone. You can even read your messages from external screen. Razr 2 is little taller than the original and is also slimmer. Tapered edges make it look even slimmer. Width is the same so you don’t mind the grip. Inner screen is bright and easy to use, so is the keypad. Motorola’s keypad has not changed much but then there is no such need too. It is big and is user-friendly.

If compared to V3 it is speedier too. Another software innovation is Motorola’s new “Crystal Talk” technology, which attempts to cancel out ambient noise to deliver superior sound clarity. Very important point since voice clarity in Motorola’s earlier phones was nothing that they could have boasted of. Listening to music in this phone is a pleasure. Easy to transfer music and the phone has amazing in-built speakers. (I wondered where the speakers were actually). I don’t mind mentioning the touch-screen feature here again, which I realized, is the USP of this phone.

Memory is 512 Mb or a generous 2 GB; unfortunately there is no provision for expandable memory. Talk time as claimed by company is 400 minutes which is more or less apt. I wish though that camera was better it seems this is one category where much attention is not given.

Apart from one or two small flaws the phones stands tall and extremely stylish. Truly a worthy successor of V3.
