Ranbir Kapoor is a real sweetheart: Gauhar Khan

In a chit-chat with Bikas Bhagat of Spicezee.com, Gauhar Khan talks about her acting career and, of course, sharing screen with Ranbir!

New Delhi: Model-turned-actress, Gauhar Khan, has debuted with ‘Rocket Singh-Salesman of the Year’, which features the current heartthrob of filmdom, Ranbir Kapoor. The stunner’s talent for dance has already been rewarded in the television dance reality show, ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ and with this movie she not only proves her acting prowess, but also fits perfectly in the changing face of New Age cinema.

In a candid chit-chat with Bikas Bhagat of Spicezee.com, she talks about her acting career, experience of working with a big banner production house and, of course, sharing screen with Ranbir! Bikas: Your hands have been full- from modeling to being a VJ, then reality shows and now movies. How has the experience been so far? Gauhar: It has been enriching all along. Every project that I have been involved in has made me grow professionally, as well as on the personal front. Being a part of Yash Raj Films in my first movie is itself a big high and a privilege. Bikas: Whom do you idolize? Gauhar: Well, no one in particular, for I believe a man shapes his own destiny. But if you ask me whose line of work I like a lot, then there is - Rekha ji and Madhuri Dixit. Bikas: Please share with us your passion for cinema. Gauhar: Talking about cinema, I always wanted to portray diverse roles. There is immense scope in the industry today with regard to portrayal of varied characters, plots etc. With the right approach, movie makers can bring out the flavour and essence of our times! Director Shimit Amin and writer Jaideep Sahni did that with ‘Rocket Singh’ and I am really thankful that they carved out my character the way they did, as it is very realistic. It was great experience working with them. Bikas: What were your preparations for the development of the character? Gauhar: I auditioned for the role, got selected from among 200 girls, who had come for it. And the rest of the credit goes to the maverick that Shimit Amin is. He is very particular about the cast of his film, and if he has shown faith in me, I too have given my 100 percent to it. Bikas: How has it been working with Ranbir Kapoor? Gauhar: Ranbir Kapoor is a real sweetheart. He is very down to earth. In fact, everybody on the sets gelled so well that it was like a big party. As I was among the few girls on the sets, these guys would gang-up and play pranks on me, but it was fun. Bikas: What kinds of roles would you like to do? Gauhar: I am fascinated by the trend of realistic cinema, where situation, character and acts are for real. I would also love to do running-around-the-trees kind of commercial films, as I am very filmy at heart. I would want to do something that stays with people even after the film is over. Bikas: To whom do you owe this success? Gauhar: It is by the grace of Allah, that I bagged this role. I am a firm believer in Him and I know everything that He will do will be good for me. Bikas: What do you like - being in sari or donning western wear? Gauhar: I am comfortable in both the attires. I feel you should be adaptable enough, your body language should be positive irrespective of what you wear.
