New Delhi: With less than 5 months remaining for India to host its biggest football tournament, the FIFA U-17 World Cup, there is a possibility that the grand event can become even grander with the arrival Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking on the matter, AIFF President Praful Patel admitted that they are indeed trying to bring the Portuguese footballer to India.
“We are talking to Portugal Football Federation. We also are trying to interact with Ronaldo’s agent. If he is free on that particular day, he will be gracing the FIFA U-17 World Cup draw function in Mumbai on July 7.”
The arrival of Ronaldo, who has an immense fans base in the country, will undoubtedly elevate the level of craze for the tournament, and his association will surely pull out crowd in huge numbers, as the federation attempts to successfully implement the mega event.
While there might not be a 100 per cent certainty at Ronaldo's visit, the organisers have already confirmed that Spain's World Cup winning captain Carlos Puyol will visit India in May to mark the launch of ticket sales for FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will begin in October.
